Job Title: Investment Compliance Officer

Manulife is seeking an experienced Investment Compliance Officer to join our team. This role reports to the Chief Compliance Officer and is responsible for ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Review client investment policy statements and account opening documents to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  2. Investigate, document, escalate, and resolve compliance issues identified through regular compliance reports.
  3. Provide oversight of portfolio management, trading, and client activity to ensure it serves the best interests of clients.
  4. Understand components of risk-rating, suitability, concentration, constraints, asset allocation, fair allocation, fee appropriateness, conflicts of interest, and other features of a portfolio management program.
  5. Interact with portfolio managers professionally to resolve and document any compliance issues.
  6. Report and escalate compliance and regulatory issues to the Chief Compliance Officer.
  7. Coordinate compliance tasks with colleagues in specialized areas, including Anti-Money Laundering, Audit, Marketing, Registrations, Privacy, Investigations, and Portfolio Management.
  8. Ensure that advisors understand and comply with regulatory best practices.
  9. Ensure that compliance policies and training meet regulatory and business requirements.
  10. Support ad hoc and strategic compliance projects and initiatives.
Requirements:
  1. 5+ years of relevant investment management compliance experience.
  2. Certified Investment Management (CIM) designation or similar education.
  3. Experience with FMAX, Envestnet, DataPhile, SharePoint, and SalesForce.
  4. Understanding of features and impact of different investment product types.
  5. Ability to apply regulations to situations with an appreciation for the business and client impact.
  6. Ability to translate complex regulations into clear, plain-language action items or policies and procedures for the firm and advisors to follow.
  7. Collaborator who works well with colleagues and appreciates a risk-focused culture of compliance.
  8. Experience successfully leveraging technology to design and apply efficient and effective compliance solutions.
  9. Performance-minded, driven, and accountable.
