Position Overview:

Challenger Geomatics is seeking an intermediate-level Survey Assistant to support land surveying operations in the Edmonton region. The Survey Assistant will assist the Party Chief in gathering land survey data in the field, while ensuring that the survey equipment and work vehicle are maintained in a clean and organized manner. This role involves local projects as well as regular travel across Western Canada for out-of-town assignments, which may require stays of 2 to 3 weeks in hotels or camp accommodations. General Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate various surveying equipment, including GPS, total stations, and locators.
  • Conduct legal and construction surveys under the supervision of the Party Chief.
  • Effectively communicate with client representatives and team members.
  • Assist the Survey Party Chief with field notes, measurements, and necessary documentation.
  • Operate survey equipment, tools, and vehicles safely, adhering to the company's Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) program.

Qualifications:

  • ENTRY LEVEL POSITION - Related experience is preferred but not mandatory.
  • A diploma or degree in Geomatics is an asset.
  • Possession of a valid Class 5 driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Valid safety certifications are advantageous (First Aid/CPR, CSTS, UTV Ridership, WHMIS, TDG, H2S, Bear Awareness, Faller certification).
  • Experience in remote work environments is beneficial.
  • Candidates must successfully complete a Fit for Duty assessment, including a Drug and Alcohol test.
