Role Summary

The On-Site Administrative Coordinator (AOS) plays a vital role within the hospital's administrative framework, providing essential support to clinical staff during non-business hours. This position is ideal for individuals seeking to enhance their leadership skills while gaining comprehensive insights into hospital operations and clinical services. The AOS operates with a significant degree of authority and is expected to exercise sound judgment in decision-making, aligning with the hospital's mission and values.

Key Responsibilities

  • Overseeing patient flow and managing hospital capacity effectively;
  • Collaborating with various departments to facilitate nursing operations and directing both clinical and non-clinical personnel as needed;
  • Ensuring the delivery of high-quality care based on evidence-based practices;
  • Acting as a liaison for internal and external healthcare professionals and family members;
  • Promoting professional development for oneself and supporting the growth of staff;
  • Ensuring compliance with quality improvement initiatives;
  • Responding to emergency situations and serving as site commander when necessary;
  • Performing additional duties as required within the scope of the role.
Qualifications
  • Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing; Master's degree preferred;
  • Certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (B.C.L.S.), Level II: Basic Rescuer;
  • Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario;
  • Up to five years of relevant experience, including three years in direct patient care;
  • Two years of progressive administrative experience in a clinical setting;
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills;
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities;
  • Proficient problem-solving and analytical skills;
  • Familiarity with professional standards and quality assurance guidelines;
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation impacting healthcare operations;
  • Ability to work effectively as both a team leader and member;
  • Demonstrated initiative and sound judgment in decision-making;
  • Commitment to ongoing professional education;
  • Flexibility to adapt to a dynamic work environment;
  • Experience in a unionized setting is preferred;
  • Critical care experience is an asset;
  • Membership in a relevant professional organization is advantageous;
  • Availability for evening and night shifts is required;
  • Compliance with vaccination requirements as per organizational policy.
