About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Property & Casualty Broker specializing in the Mid-Market sector, responsible for marketing both new and renewal business, overseeing all aspects of placements from initial market selection to policy delivery. The Senior Broker will focus on complex placements within the Mid-Market Team while also serving in a leadership role to mentor and nurture staff, fostering robust relationships with insurers and clients alike.
Key Responsibilities
- Negotiate effectively with insurance carriers, showcasing a strong understanding of risk; drive both financial and non-financial outcomes that promote organic revenue growth and retention, while identifying opportunities for creative upselling and cross-selling to enhance client product density and increase account margins.
- Collaborate with Account Executives and Account Managers in Ontario to formulate coverage strategies and marketing initiatives for remarketing and prospective business, including cross-sell and up-sell efforts, effectively addressing coverage gaps or deficiencies.
- Participate in client meetings as part of the team to enhance client communication and presentation skills.
- Work closely with the account management team and clients to ensure timely and comprehensive submissions are presented to markets, respond to carrier inquiries, compile carrier quote proposals, and critically analyze each, providing clients with a clear summary of the marketing process and a proposal with recommendations.
- Prepare coverage comparisons, diagnostics, consolidated coverage/policy analyses, letters, and reports under the guidance of the Senior Broker or SVP, Broking.
- Establish productive business relationships with key insurance underwriters and local NFP account management teams.
- Develop a thorough understanding of the market to better support the broking team.
- Build strong, trustworthy, and resilient relationships with carrier and wholesale partners.
- Maintain accurate client and policy information in NFP's Epic agency management system.
- Continuously enhance knowledge of the insurance marketplace, products, and services.
- Attend industry events and sessions as needed.
Qualifications
- Provincial P&C License required or to be obtained within 90 days of employment.
- Typically, over 7 years of experience in the insurance industry and product line; specialized industry experience is a plus.
- Strong understanding of broker operating fundamentals and financials.
- Exceptional negotiation skills with the ability to adapt approach to achieve optimal outcomes based on varying personalities.
- Excellent organizational skills with the capacity to adapt to changing workloads, complexities, and priorities.
- Ability to work collaboratively as a key team member and mentor to junior colleagues.
- Self-motivated and determined with a positive attitude and sense of urgency.
- Strong attention to detail with robust analytical skills, both quantitative and qualitative.
- Proven technical proficiency and creativity in developing and delivering innovative property and casualty solutions.
- Confident and engaging when client-facing, demonstrating effective communication and emotional intelligence, with the ability to tailor responses in diverse situations.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with Epic (agency management system) is advantageous.
