The Public Prosecutions division is tasked with the prosecution of individuals accused under various criminal and regulatory statutes. The aim is to foster secure communities by addressing criminal charges through a variety of methods, including court trials and alternative dispute resolutions.
Essential Qualifications:
- Active member of the Law Society of Saskatchewan
- Successful completion of a criminal background check
- Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities
- Strong interpersonal and analytical capabilities
- Capacity to work autonomously as well as collaboratively
- Familiarity with legal research tools and MS Office suite
- Preferred background in criminal law
Key Responsibilities:
In the role of Senior Crown Prosecutor, you will manage criminal prosecutions in Provincial Court and Court of King's Bench for Saskatchewan. Responsibilities include conducting court proceedings, trials, appeals, formulating legal opinions, and advising law enforcement. Additionally, you will engage in legal education initiatives.
This role may necessitate flexible working hours, travel, and overnight stays in various communities. Compensation will be commensurate with experience and includes benefits such as paid vacation and statutory holidays.
