Saskatchewan Criminal and Family Law Attorney

We are seeking a qualified Staff Lawyer to join our team at the Regina Rural Area Office. The successful candidate will possess a strong background in criminal and family law and be able to work independently on cases assigned by the Legal Director.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct assigned files to professional standards and in accordance with the policies and procedures of Legal Aid Saskatchewan and the Law Society of Saskatchewan.
- Conduct preliminary inquiries, pre-trials, case conferences, trials, reviews, and appeals.
- Negotiate competent resolutions of files to achieve fair, early, and lasting outcomes for clients.
- Represent clients at bail hearings, guilty pleas, and remands both in-person and remotely.
- Work independently on cases as assigned by the Legal Director.
- Complete and accurate time entry and record keeping.
- Experience in criminal law.
- Experience in family law.
- Law degree from a recognized law school.
- Member in good standing with the Law Society of Saskatchewan.
- Valid Driver's License - Class 5.
- Technologically savvy with a keen enthusiasm for learning new systems, including computer literacy in MS Office, web-based legal research tools, and other web-based resources.
- Commitment to social justice and an understanding of the needs and challenges faced by low-income and marginalized communities.
- Demonstrated time management and ability to deal with conflicting priorities and deadlines.
- Successful candidate will be required to provide an acceptable criminal record check.
