Join Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) as a Registered Nurse
Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for a dedicated Registered Nurse to be part of the Bone Marrow Transplant / Leukemia Program. This role is crucial in providing comprehensive care to patients undergoing transplant procedures.
Responsibilities of the Registered Nurse (RN):
- Oversee transplant operations for a designated group of Leukemia/Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) clients and donors as identified by the Hematology/BMT Clinical Practice Unit (CPU).
- Deliver direct patient care, including initiating transplant assessments for clients and donors, coordinating necessary diagnostics, interviewing and evaluating clients, and formulating personalized care strategies.
- Maintain regular communication with clients and donors throughout the transplant journey, providing essential education to clients and their families regarding the transplant process.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including physicians and other healthcare professionals within VCH and affiliated organizations.
Required Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Active registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
- Minimum of two (2) years' experience in a Leukemia/BMT Program.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Extensive understanding of nursing principles and practices within a client-centered care framework.
- Familiarity with BCCNM standards of practice and clinical guidelines.
- In-depth knowledge of evidence-based nursing practices related to Hematology/Leukemia/BMT.
- Awareness of various healthcare disciplines and their contributions to patient care.
- Proficiency in adult education methodologies and tools.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to lead and delegate tasks effectively.
- Competence in teaching and guiding others.
- Capability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to manage conflicts and adapt to unforeseen circumstances.
- Strong organizational skills to prioritize and manage workload efficiently.
- Proficient in using medical equipment relevant to the clinical setting.
- Competent in CPR techniques.
- Computer literacy to navigate patient care information systems.
- Physical capability to fulfill the duties of the role.
