Job Summary

Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a Registered Nurse to join the Bone Marrow Transplant Day Care team at Vancouver General Hospital. As a Registered Nurse in Bone Marrow Transplant, you will be responsible for conducting nursing assessments and providing nursing care, education, counseling, and treatment to patients undergoing bone marrow transplantation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conducts nursing assessments and provides nursing care, education, counseling, and treatment to patients undergoing bone marrow transplantation.
  • Enhances quality of life from the perspective of the client/family.
  • Plans, implements, and reviews client education using experience and knowledge of content area and adult education principles.
  • Consults, confers, and collaborates with team members and other healthcare givers.
  • Participates on designated committees/teams and approved research projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
  • Completion of two (2) years' recent, related experience in Leukemia/Bone Marrow Transplant or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Knowledge & Abilities

  • Knowledge of nursing theory and practice within a client and family-centered model of care.
  • Knowledge of the BCCNM standards for nursing practice.
  • Knowledge of adult education principles and methods.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based clinical practice related to Leukemia/Bone Marrow Transplant.
  • Knowledge of research process and methodology.
  • Knowledge of other healthcare disciplines and their role in client care.
