Human Resources Consultant

Position Type: Non-unionized

Work Schedule: 35 hours per week

The Human Resources division is tasked with overseeing recruitment, employee relations, training, and workplace health and safety in alignment with relevant regulations and organizational guidelines. This department also manages payroll, retirement plans, and employee benefits. The primary objective is to fulfill the requirements of both internal and external stakeholders by fostering ongoing enhancement and clear communication within the organization.

Reporting directly to the HR Supervisor, the Consultant is responsible for supporting designated services and executing various HR functions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the recruitment process, including candidate selection, hiring, and onboarding, while ensuring compliance with policies and agreements
  • Formulate strategies for attracting and retaining skilled candidates
  • Address employee relations issues (disciplinary measures, grievances)
  • Manage short and long-term disability, workplace safety insurance, and employee accommodations
  • Coordinate and execute annual health and safety programs in partnership with management and health and safety committees
  • Contribute to the development of compensation, benefits, and pension plans
  • Financial oversight of the pension scheme
  • Review and enhance HR policies
  • Engage in HR-related committees and initiatives
  • Perform other relevant duties as assigned

Qualifications and Experience

  • 3-5 years of experience in HR or payroll, ideally within a unionized context
  • Proficient in Office 365 applications
  • Fluent in both English and French
  • Knowledge of Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS) is advantageous
  • Familiarity with ADP systems is a plus
  • Completed college diploma in a related discipline
