About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Dietitian to join our team at Nova Scotia Health and IWK Health. As a Medical Nutrition Specialist, you will be responsible for directing and providing nutrition care and education to patients. Your expertise will be instrumental in developing and implementing patient-centered care plans that promote optimal nutrition status and improve clinical outcomes.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in nutrition and dietetics, with experience in renal nutrition an asset. You will be responsible for assessing patients, developing and implementing care plans, and monitoring patient progress. Your strong communication and interpersonal skills will enable you to build effective relationships with patients, families, and healthcare teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement patient-centered care plans that promote optimal nutrition status and improve clinical outcomes
  • Assess patients and develop individualized care plans that address their unique needs and goals
  • Provide education and support to patients and families on nutrition and health-related topics
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure seamless care coordination and communication
  • Monitor patient progress and adjust care plans as needed

Requirements:

  • B.Sc. Major in Nutrition/Dietetics required
  • Completion of an approved Dietetic internship required
  • Licensed with Nova Scotia College of Dietitians and Nutritionists required
  • Eligible for membership with the Dietitians of Canada
  • Experience in renal nutrition an asset
  • Demonstrated accountability, judgment, and decision-making skills
  • Strong client focus and ability to build solid client/practitioner relationships
  • Demonstrated communication and conflict resolution skills
  • Demonstrated collaboration and teamwork skills
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and innovation
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities
  • Demonstrated planning, organization, and time management skills
  • Commitment to promoting a culture that supports safety, ethical practices, and organizational health
  • Physical capabilities to perform the duties of the position
  • Travelling to other sites may be required
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
