Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Project Engineer to join our engineering team. This role is essential in overseeing the engineering initiatives at our state-of-the-art sawmill operations.

Location: Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada

Department: Engineering

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure the highest safety standards are adhered to during all phases of installation, deconstruction, and construction activities.
  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee assigned projects and maintenance tasks, including scheduling workforce and organizing major operational shutdowns.
  • Act as a liaison among operations, engineering, and maintenance teams to ensure seamless communication and project execution.
  • Supervise construction sites and conduct field analyses to ensure project adherence to specifications.
  • Verify the availability of necessary materials, components, and specialized tools for project execution.
  • Estimate labor and material costs for projects accurately.
  • Conduct research for new project initiatives and utilize feedback to enhance project plans.
  • Collaborate closely with supervisors, operators, and skilled trades personnel.
  • Coordinate procurement of materials and services through established vendor relationships.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Civil, or Industrial Engineering.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a related industrial manufacturing environment.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Team-oriented mindset with the capability to engage with all organizational levels and adapt to changing conditions.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Word, and Excel.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of MS Office, MS Project, and CMMS.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to maintain a broad perspective.
  • Familiarity with sawmill and planer mill machinery.
