Senior Financial Planning Analyst

Position Overview:
The Senior Financial Planning Analyst will lead a small team of analysts, providing critical support to business unit leaders and senior executives in both strategic and operational decision-making. This role encompasses responsibilities such as budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting, alongside conducting in-depth financial analyses and developing robust financial models.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the annual five-year planning cycle and the monthly forecasting processes.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive corporate and utility-level financial models.
- Assess the implications of strategic initiatives, investments, and various financing options through detailed sensitivity analyses.
- Monitor financial performance, analyze trends, and update models as necessary.
- Ensure timely and precise delivery of financial insights to senior leadership for informed decision-making.
Budgeting and Planning:
Collaborate with various departments, including Treasury, Tax, and Accounting, to enhance the corporate and regulated utility financial models and decision-making tools. Responsibilities include:
- Preparing presentations for senior management and the Board of Directors.
- Creating insightful financial analyses to support strategic decisions.
- Documenting processes thoroughly to ensure compliance and control.
- Implementing financial systems and tools that improve the efficiency and accuracy of financial planning.
- Extracting relevant data from financial systems and developing reports and dashboards.
Team Leadership:
Manage, mentor, and develop a team of analysts, driving efficiencies through standardization and automation of reporting and analysis processes.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Accounting, or a related field.
- Approximately 5+ years of experience in a highly analytical role within a corporate finance environment.
- Strong understanding of corporate finance and accounting principles.
- Professional designations such as CPA, CFA, or MBA are advantageous.
- Experience in roles such as FP&A, corporate development, or equity research.
- Leadership experience with a proven ability to coach and develop junior team members.
- Ability to manage multiple initiatives in a dynamic corporate setting.
- Familiarity with financial systems such as SAP is preferred.
