Position Overview:

The University of Toronto is seeking qualified candidates for a Sessional Lecturer role within the Institute for Management and Innovation's Business Minor program. This position is intended for the Fall term and is open to individuals who are not currently enrolled as students at the University.

Course Information:

Course Title: Technology Strategy, IMI303H (1 module)

Class Schedule: Weekly sessions on Fridays from 11 AM to 1 PM

Appointment Duration: September to December

Course Description: This course aims to equip students with a foundational understanding of essential economic and strategic concepts. It emphasizes the significance of innovation and intellectual property in fostering competitive advantages for businesses, particularly those in science-oriented sectors. Through practical applications of theoretical frameworks, students will engage with real-world business scenarios.

Responsibilities:

  1. Designing and delivering course content effectively.
  2. Supervising teaching assistants.
  3. Creating, administering, and grading assignments, tests, and examinations.
  4. Calculating and submitting grades to university officials.
  5. Holding regular office hours for student consultations.

Qualifications:

Preferred candidates will possess a completed PhD in a relevant field or be in progress for non-University of Toronto graduate students. Relevant professional experience or designations are also considered. A proven track record in teaching and mastery of the subject matter is essential. Experience teaching similar courses is highly advantageous. Preference will be given to those with the rank of Sessional Lecturer II or Sessional Lecturer III.

Compensation: The salary is determined per module.

Anticipated Enrollment: Approximately 50 students

Teaching Assistant Support: A minimum of 40 hours is expected.

This position is governed by the CUPE 3902 Unit 3 Collective Agreement. It is important to note that some job postings may be tentative, pending final course determinations and enrollment figures. In cases where discrepancies arise between posted rates and those in the collective agreement, the latter will take precedence.

Qualified individuals advanced to the rank of Sessional Lecturer II or Sessional Lecturer III will receive hiring preference in accordance with the collective agreement.
