About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Ethnic Food Cook to join our team at The Guru Fine Indian Cuisine. As a key member of our kitchen staff, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of dishes to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Food Preparation and Cooking: Prepare and cook complete meals or individual dishes and foods to meet the needs of our customers.
  • Customer Service: Prepare dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances, ensuring their safety and satisfaction.
  • Kitchen Management: Inspect kitchens and food service areas to maintain high standards of cleanliness and organization.
  • Staff Training and Development: Train staff in preparation, cooking, and handling of food, ensuring they have the skills and knowledge to excel in their roles.
  • Inventory Management: Order supplies and equipment, and maintain inventory and records of food, supplies, and equipment.
  • Cleaning and Maintenance: Clean kitchen and work areas, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for staff and customers.
  • Staff Supervision: Supervise kitchen staff and helpers, providing guidance and support to ensure they meet their responsibilities.
  • Recruitment and Hiring: Recruit and hire staff, ensuring the right people are in place to meet the needs of the business.
  • Event Planning: Organize buffets and banquets, ensuring they are executed to the highest standards.
  • Operational Management: Manage kitchen operations, ensuring they run smoothly and efficiently.
Requirements
  • Education: No degree, certificate, or diploma is required for this role.
  • Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years of experience in a similar role is preferred.
  • Work Setting: This role is based in a restaurant environment.
  • Physical Capabilities: The ability to stand for extended periods, handle heavy loads, and work in a fast-paced environment is required.
  • Personal Suitability: Excellent client focus, dependability, flexibility, initiative, judgement, organized, reliability, and team player skills are essential.
