Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and enthusiastic Nordic Ski Instructor to join our team at Mount Washington Alpine Resort. As a Nordic Ski Instructor, you will be responsible for teaching cross-country ski lessons to guests of all ages and abilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teaching and Instruction: Teach cross-country ski lessons in our Child and Adult school as well as Group Lesson programs.
  • Terrain Management: Set up of outdoor terrain signage.
  • Guided Tours: Guide Snowshoe Tours as and when needed.
  • Ambassadorship: Act as an Ambassador for Mount Washington and the Industry as a whole.
  • Department Support: Assist in other department operations such as Rentals, Sales and Events when required.
  • Communication: Attend daily morning meetings.
  • Facilities Maintenance: Cleaning and tidying of the staff room.
  • Operational Support: Assisting the Outdoor Operations staff by shoveling of stairs and entryways and updating the shoveling log.
  • Rental Support: Supporting the Rental department as and when needed.
Requirements
  • Qualifications: All applicants should be active cross-country skiers and hold a minimum of a level 1 CANSI certification.
  • Adaptability: Be prepared to switch location at no notice depending on guest volume and weather.
  • Teamwork: Be a team player and able to work without supervision.
  • Guest Service: Strong guest service skills are a requirement.
  • Upselling: Ability to up-sell products is a huge asset.
  • Physical Demands: This position is a physical one that requires grasping, standing, repetitive motions, lifting, listening as well as hearing ability, and visual acuity.
  • Weather Conditions: Be able to work outside every day, in all weather conditions.
  • Leadership: Excellent leadership skills.
  • Certifications: First Aid certification is an asset.
  • Knowledge: Additional knowledge of snowshoeing, the outdoors and surrounding area are definite assets.
