About the Position

The School of Public Policy and Administration at Carleton University invites applications for a tenure-track appointment at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor in Philanthropy and Nonprofit Leadership. The successful candidate will participate in the delivery of the School's Master of Philanthropy and Nonprofit Leadership and other graduate programs through research, teaching, supervision, and service to the university, the community, and the profession.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and teach courses in philanthropy and nonprofit leadership, including online and executive-style courses
  • Conduct research in philanthropy and nonprofit leadership, with a focus on policy and regulatory frameworks, performance and accountability assessment, and organizational administration
  • Supervise graduate students and contribute to the development of the School's graduate programs
  • Engage in service to the university, the community, and the profession, including leadership roles in the program

Qualifications

The position is open to candidates from diverse disciplines. The successful candidate will have earned a PhD by the time of appointment, have an active research agenda related to philanthropy and the charitable/nonprofit sector, and have demonstrated promise of teaching related to this field. Candidates should also have an interest in community engagement, evidence of leadership capabilities, and be prepared to assume a leadership role in the program.

Preferred Qualifications

A wide range of research and teaching expertise pertaining to philanthropy and the nonprofit sector is valued. Experience teaching online and executive-style courses will also be considered an asset. Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate knowledge of the philanthropic and nonprofit sector in Canada.
