Job Opportunity

We are seeking a highly qualified individual to fill a tenure-stream position in the area of sociolegal studies at the University of Toronto. The successful candidate will be appointed as an Assistant Professor and will be expected to pursue innovative and independent research at the highest level.

About the Centre for Criminology and Sociolegal Studies

The Centre for Criminology and Sociolegal Studies is a leading research institution in the field of sociolegal studies. Our faculty members are actively engaged in Canadian and international criminological and sociolegal research, teaching, and student supervision. Responsibilities
  • Pursue innovative and independent research at the highest level
  • Establish an outstanding, competitive, and externally funded research program
  • Teach core and elective courses in both the undergraduate and graduate program at the Centre for Criminology and Sociolegal Studies
Requirements
  • Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in the social sciences, humanities, or law, with a focus on sociolegal studies, Indigenous studies, law and society, sociology of law, criminology, legal anthropology, critical security studies, or a closely related field
  • Demonstrated record of excellence in research and teaching
  • Strong communication skills and ability to establish an outstanding, competitive, and externally funded research program
