Position Overview

The Eastern Ontario Regional Laboratory Association (EORLA) is seeking a qualified individual to fill the role of Forensic Pathologist within the Eastern Ontario Regional Forensic Pathology Unit. This position is situated at a leading hospital and involves collaboration with a dedicated team of experienced forensic pathologists.

Candidates must possess a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree and be eligible for licensure by the relevant medical regulatory body. Additionally, certification from the Royal College of Physicians (Canada) or equivalent board certification in Diagnostic and Molecular Pathology, as well as Forensic Pathology, is required. The ideal candidate should also meet the criteria for category A status on the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service registry. Strong collaborative skills are essential, as the role requires effective interaction with various medical professionals, law enforcement, and legal representatives. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities are a must, along with a comprehensive understanding of applicable laws, evidence rules, and investigative methodologies.

The successful candidate will engage in the full spectrum of forensic pathology services, including on-call duties. An academic appointment at a prominent university is included, with expectations for participation in research and educational initiatives. Academic rank will be determined based on experience, adhering to university guidelines. Compensation and benefits align with the established standards for pathologists in the region.

Basic Requirements

Applicants must hold a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree and be eligible for licensure by the appropriate medical authority. Certification from the Royal College of Physicians (Canada) or equivalent in relevant pathology fields is also necessary. Eligibility for category A status on the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service registry is required.

As a condition of employment, successful candidates will need to provide a satisfactory Criminal Records Check.
