Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Assistant to join our team at the Provincial Laboratory Medicine Services (PLMS) in Squamish, BC. As a Medical Laboratory Assistant, you will play a critical role in providing laboratory testing services at 31 sites across the lower mainland and central coast of BC.

Key Responsibilities
  • Receive and process patient samples, ensuring accurate and timely testing.
  • Perform routine laboratory tests, including urine tests for protein and glucose, and prepare specimens for analysis.
  • Operate laboratory equipment, including electrocardiographs, and maintain accurate records of test results.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, healthcare professionals, and laboratory staff to ensure seamless testing and reporting processes.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to safety protocols and regulations.
  • Collaborate with laboratory staff to ensure efficient testing and reporting processes.
Requirements
  • Grade 12 and completion of a recognized Lab Assistant training program, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • One year of recent related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to type 25 wpm and communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively and maintain a positive work environment.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
