Reporting Structure:
Reports to: Manager, Transportation Operations

Oversee large-scale and intricate projects/programs, ensuring that critical project milestones are met within established timelines and budgetary constraints. Delegate tasks to team members as necessary.

Receive project initiation requests from the Transportation Operations Manager and the Transportation Management Team, assess project specifications, and coordinate project teams within Transportation Operations.

Maintain ongoing communication with the Transportation Operations Manager and the Transportation Management Team, providing updates on project progress, significant milestones, and deliverables.

Collaborate with key stakeholders and serve as a liaison between project teams, sponsors, and customer groups.
Prepare presentation materials and status reports for executive sponsors and stakeholder groups.

Develop and sustain strong relationships with Transportation Service Delivery and relevant sections within the Division to ensure that new solutions adhere to established standards and can be effectively supported.

Anticipate project management resource needs based on Business Planning and formulate a service plan to address these needs.

Investigate, evaluate, and propose enhancements to existing processes, including project management methodologies and related practices, in response to legislative changes, new products, and innovations.

Contribute to the formulation of the Transportation Operations annual work plan; establish operational objectives for the team to align with the broader goals of the Transportation Operations section and Division.

Collaborate with the Manager of Transportation Operations and the section's Financial Coordinator to create the annual budget for the team, ensuring that expenditures and revenues remain within approved limits.

Monitor, analyze, and report on team activities, assessing performance and service effectiveness.
Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through ongoing development, modeling inclusive behaviors, and actively managing bias.

A university degree in Transportation Engineering or a related field, with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in project management, preferably within transportation engineering or planning, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Professional licensure as a Professional Engineer (P.Limited Engineering Licensee (LEL) or Licensed Engineering Technologist (LET) with the Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO),
Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) with the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT),
Project Management Professional (PMP) with the Project Management Institute (PMI)

Comprehensive understanding of project management principles, practices, techniques, and tools, including the PMBOK and Corporate Project Management Methodology (CPMM).

~ Advanced technical knowledge and familiarity with best practices in Transportation Project delivery.

Ability to manage large, complex projects and develop project budgets.
Proficient in project management software applications (such as Microsoft Project).
Understanding of procurement processes to prepare and evaluate RFI/RFP/RFQs and secure resources.
Proven ability to lead a team to deliver projects on schedule and with high quality.

Demonstrated management competencies, including results orientation, human resources management, leadership, decision-making, collaboration, coaching, mentoring, adaptability, professionalism, and job knowledge.

Strong organizational, multi-tasking, time management, planning, and project management skills to effectively manage resources and priorities in a dynamic environment.

Excellent communication skills to engage with clients, technical teams, management, and executive staff, conveying technical principles and information in an accessible manner.

Demonstrated analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving, and issue resolution skills in various contexts, whether technical, managerial, or interpersonal.

Familiarity with the legislation and documentation that supports Transportation/Traffic Engineering delivery, including but not limited to the Highway Traffic Act, Provincial Offences Act, Ontario Traffic Manual, Ontario Regulations, and Municipal By-laws.
