Key Responsibilities

As a Lead Cinematic Animator, you will be responsible for producing intricate and high-quality character animations for in-game cinematics, ensuring alignment with both the artistic vision and technical specifications. You will work in close collaboration with directors and your Lead to deliver compelling storytelling and performance, breathing life into characters through expressive and realistic animations that meet benchmark quality standards.

A significant aspect of your role will involve mentoring junior and mid-level animators, providing them with guidance and support to cultivate a collaborative and growth-oriented environment. Your technical expertise with animation tools such as Maya and Motion Builder, along with your knowledge of game engines, will enable you to effectively refine animations and troubleshoot issues.

You will collaborate with narrative, audio, VFX, and technical teams to ensure that animations enhance storytelling and meet qualitative goals. Additionally, you will assist the cinematic leadership team in planning performance capture sessions, ensuring that all assets are prepared for the shoot.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience as a cinematic Animator in the gaming industry.
  • Proficiency in animation software such as Maya, Motion Builder, or equivalent tools.
  • Expertise in performance capture refinement and keyframe animation.
  • A strong grasp of character animation principles, timing, and narrative techniques.
  • Familiarity with motion capture data and methodologies.
  • Experience contributing to at least one AAA game, particularly in creating narrative content like cinematics or scripted events.
  • An appreciation for camera language and framing is beneficial.
  • A comprehensive understanding of technical workflows is essential.
  • Demonstrated collaboration skills and experience in engaging with broader teams for content alignment.
  • A passion for your work, with a focus on improving workflows and tools.
