Lead Cinematic Animation Director

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Cinematic Animator to join our team at Cloud Chamber. As a key member of our animation department, you will be responsible for managing and mentoring a talented team of cinematic animators in creating high-quality, immersive BioShock experiences.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee the development of high-end cinematic and cut-scene animations, ensuring they meet the highest standards of quality and creativity.
- Contribute to the development of the cinematic animation pipeline and workflows, identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes to enhance efficiency and productivity.
- Collaborate with other department leads and animation leadership to plan and execute mocap sessions, ensuring seamless integration with other disciplines.
- Lead review sessions with the cinematic animation team, providing constructive feedback and guidance to help team members grow and improve.
- Work closely with Production to identify blocking issues, develop milestone roadmaps, and participate in sprint planning and tasking to ensure animation goals are met.
- Share your expertise and best practices with the team, helping to elevate the skills and knowledge of less experienced members.
- Take on a small animation workload when time permits, staying hands-on and connected to the team's creative process.
- Participate in the hiring process for the department, including the creation of job roles and responsibilities, to help build a strong and diverse team.
- Establish on-boarding and team training for the cinematic animation team, ensuring they have the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in their roles.
- Previous experience as a Lead, Team Lead, or coach, leading an animation team and driving high-quality results.
- Shipped multiple AAA titles, ideally using Unreal or a comparable engine, with a strong understanding of motion capture and hand key animation.
- Exceptional knowledge of animation principles, including character performance, form, gesture, and silhouette, as well as anatomy and caricature.
- Excellent understanding of traditional animation principles and physical storytelling, with the ability to respond elegantly to difficult creative changes.
- Strong collaborative and flexible spirit, with a champion's attitude towards high standards and progress.
- Uncompromising ethics and unwavering integrity, with a positive force multiplier attitude and a great team-player spirit.
