Position OverviewReporting to the Manager of Breast Imaging and Ultrasound, the Administrative Support Specialist will operate independently, managing the appointment scheduling process for breast imaging services across the province. Key responsibilities include:
- Coordinating appointment bookings
- Responding to telephone inquiries
- Updating client records in the database
- Performing additional administrative tasks as required
Shifts will consist of 7.0 hours on weekdays, with hours varying between 0800 and 2000, including occasional Saturday shifts on a rotational basis; totaling 49 hours bi-weekly.
Qualifications- High School diploma or G.E.D. is required.
- Completion of a recognized Office Administration, Business, or Secretarial Diploma Program is preferred; equivalent education and experience may be considered.
- At least six months of relevant administrative or secretarial experience is preferred, with patient registration experience being an asset.
- Proficient in Windows and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, etc.), as well as Internet and Database applications.
- Strong judgment, diplomacy, and discretion in handling confidential information are essential.
- Excellent time management and problem-solving abilities are required.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to quality and accuracy are crucial.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with multiple deadlines is necessary.
- Strong organizational, communication (verbal and written), and interpersonal skills are required.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Familiarity with the NS health care system is preferred.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing shifts and workload demands is essential.
- Knowledge of Medical Terminology and/or STAR/Millennium is an asset.
