Position OverviewReporting to the Manager of Breast Imaging and Ultrasound, the Administrative Support Specialist will work autonomously, managing tasks related to the scheduling process for breast imaging services across the province. Key responsibilities include:
- Coordinating appointment bookings
- Handling incoming calls
- Updating client records in the database
- Performing additional administrative duties as required
Weekday shifts totaling 7.0 hours, with variability between 0800 and 2000 hours, including occasional Saturday shifts on a rotational basis; total of 49 hours bi-weekly.
Qualifications- High School diploma or G.E.D. is required.
- Preferred completion of an Office Administration, Business, or Secretarial Diploma Program; equivalent education and experience may be considered.
- At least six months of relevant administrative or secretarial experience is preferred, with a focus on patient registration.
- Proficient in Windows and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, etc.), as well as Internet and Database applications.
- Ability to exercise excellent judgment, diplomacy, and discretion when handling confidential information.
- Strong time management and problem-solving capabilities.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to quality and accuracy.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with multiple deadlines.
- Exceptional organizational, communication (verbal and written), and interpersonal skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Familiarity with the NS health care system is advantageous.
- Flexibility to adapt to changes in shifts and workload demands.
- Knowledge of Medical Terminology and/or STAR/Millennium is a plus.
