Position OverviewUnder the supervision of the Manager of Breast Imaging and Ultrasound, the Administrative Support Specialist will operate independently and manage tasks related to the appointment scheduling process for breast imaging services across the province. Key responsibilities include:
- Scheduling appointments and managing phone inquiries.
- Updating and maintaining client records in the database.
- Performing additional administrative duties as required.
This position involves 7.0 hours of work on weekdays, with shifts varying between 0800 and 2000 hours, including occasional Saturday rotations; totaling 49 hours bi-weekly.
Qualifications- High School diploma or G.E.D. is required.
- Completion of a recognized Office Administration, Business, or Secretarial Diploma Program is preferred; equivalent education and experience may be considered.
- At least six months of relevant administrative or secretarial experience is preferred, with patient registration experience being an asset.
- Proficient in Windows and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, etc.), as well as database management.
- Exemplary judgment, discretion, and diplomacy in handling confidential information are essential.
- Strong time management and problem-solving abilities are required.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to quality and accuracy are necessary.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with multiple deadlines is crucial.
- Excellent organizational, communication (both verbal and written), and interpersonal skills are required.
- Demonstrated initiative and self-motivation are essential.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision is required.
- Familiarity with the NS health care system is advantageous.
- Flexibility to adapt to changes in shifts on short notice is necessary.
- Knowledge of Medical Terminology and/or STAR/Millennium is considered an asset.
