The Opportunity

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Ward Clerk to join our team in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at IWK Health. As a key member of our unit, you will be responsible for providing administrative support to our healthcare team, ensuring the smooth operation of the unit, and providing exceptional patient care.

Responsibilities
  • Data entry, including database entry
  • Ordering and maintaining supplies
  • Required transport functions
  • Answering phones and placing calls to staff as required
  • Payroll duties as required
Requirements
  • Minimum High School Diploma or GED required
  • Completion of a recognized Office Administration Program preferred
  • Data entry skills required
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and other computer programs/technology
  • Knowledge of Meditech preferred
  • Proven team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to respectfully work with a variety of inter-professional team members
  • High degree of initiative, diligence, attention to detail, and self-discipline/focus
  • Commitment to continual learning and willing to share knowledge and support the development of co-workers
  • Demonstrated commitment to Family Centered Care
  • Excellent multi-tasking, organizational and prioritization skills
  • Knowledge of medical terminology an asset
  • Competencies in other languages an asset
