Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Job Summary

Fraser Health is seeking a skilled Diagnostic Medical Sonographer to join our team. As a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, you will be responsible for performing ultrasound examinations on various sections of the body, including abdominal, obstetrical, pelvic, peripheral vascular, small parts, and echocardiography.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform ultrasound procedures on patients, utilizing ultrasound and Doppler techniques to obtain images and labelling permanent records.
  • Assist in procedural rooms, setting up biopsy trays and assisting the radiologist/cardiologist with interventional procedures.
  • Monitor patient during procedures, observing and responding to possible contrast media reactions or other emergency situations.
  • Check resultant images for technical quality and completeness, preparing technical worksheets and discussing images with the radiologist/cardiologist.
  • Facilitate the workflow of designated work area, checking information on requisitions, regulating inpatient examination time, and arranging for transportation of patients.
  • Monitor equipment performance, performing quality control duties and notifying supervisor of equipment malfunctions.
Requirements:
  • Graduate of a recognized training program in Diagnostic Cardiac Sonography and Diagnostic General Sonography.
  • Certified with Sonography Canada or the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).
  • Completion of Intravenous Therapy training course or applicable experience working in IV Therapy.
