Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Job Summary

Fraser Health is seeking a skilled Diagnostic Medical Sonographer to join our team. As a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, you will be responsible for performing ultrasound examinations on patients, utilizing your expertise in abdominal, obstetrical, pelvic, peripheral vascular, small parts, and echocardiography sonography.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform ultrasound examinations on patients, adhering to established protocols and procedures.
  • Prepare patients for testing, including explaining procedures and monitoring their comfort level.
  • Operate and maintain diagnostic sonographic equipment, ensuring optimal performance and safety.
  • Collaborate with radiologists and cardiologists to ensure accurate diagnoses and effective treatment plans.
  • Participate in quality control activities, including equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Develop and maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to infection control protocols.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest sonography techniques and technologies, participating in ongoing education and training.
Requirements:
  • Graduate of a recognized training program in Diagnostic Cardiac Sonography and Diagnostic General Sonography.
  • Certification with Sonography Canada or the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).
  • Completion of Intravenous Therapy training course or equivalent experience.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, radiologists, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, prioritizing tasks and managing workload effectively.
