Position Overview

Arcadis is seeking a licensed Senior Structural Engineer to enhance our Building Structural Group in Montreal. The ideal candidate will be involved in the structural design and oversight of significant industrial projects within the region. The following qualifications are essential:

  1. Extensive experience in structural engineering design
  2. Comprehensive understanding of structural detailing
  3. Proficient time management abilities
  4. Exceptional communication skills in both French and English

Prior experience with large-scale industrial projects will be advantageous.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Direct the structural design team to ensure successful project outcomes.
  2. Collaborate with other disciplines on structural design and construction efforts.
  3. Engage in daily project design office activities, interacting directly with clients and external partners.
  4. Perform structural modeling, analysis, and design tasks.
  5. Draft and evaluate structural reports and drawings.
  6. Work in conjunction with BIM personnel to create accurate drawings.
  7. Assess construction submissions, including constructability and staging drawings, as well as project schedules and cost estimates.
  8. Coordinate engineering and commercial aspects with the construction team.
  9. Conduct site inspections during construction to ensure compliance with structural designs and contract specifications.
  10. Identify potential structural issues during construction and propose solutions.
Required Qualifications:
  1. Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  2. Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ).
  3. Over 10 years of experience in structural engineering, particularly in industrial projects.
  4. Fluency in both French and English, with the ability to independently prepare reports and correspondence.
  5. Demonstrated experience in comprehensive project design, including analysis, detailing, and construction management for complex industrial projects.
  6. Thorough knowledge of building regulations, including NBCC, Quebec Construction Code, and CSA standards.
  7. Proficient in structural analysis software such as SAP, ETABS, SAFE, RAM-Structural, S-Concrete, as well as Microsoft Office Suite and Acrobat/Bluebeam.
  8. Strong written and verbal communication skills; capable of independently preparing reports and correspondence.
  9. A valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites for reviews.
  10. Ability to engage effectively with all levels of staff and clients, both internal and external.
