Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of structural designers to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Coordinate structural design and construction efforts with various disciplines.
  • Engage in daily project design office activities, directly liaising with clients and external stakeholders.
  • Conduct structural modeling, analysis, and design, and prepare and review structural documentation.
  • Collaborate closely with BIM professionals to produce detailed drawings.
  • Evaluate construction submissions, assess constructability, and review staging drawings, schedules, and cost estimates.
  • Align engineering and commercial aspects with the construction team.
  • Perform site visits during construction to ensure compliance with structural drawings and contract specifications, identifying potential structural issues and proposing solutions.
Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ).
  • Over 10 years of experience in structural engineering, particularly in industrial projects.
  • Fluency in French and English, with the ability to independently prepare reports and correspondence.
  • Demonstrated experience in the complete design process for complex industrial projects, including analysis, design, detailing, and construction management.
  • Thorough knowledge of building codes, including NBCC, Quebec Construction Code, and CSA standards.
  • Proficient in structural analysis software such as SAP, ETABS, SAFE, RAM-Structural, S-Concrete, as well as Microsoft Office Suite and Acrobat/Bluebeam.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of preparing reports and correspondence independently.
  • A valid driver's license and willingness to travel for site reviews.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of staff and clients.
