Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lifeguard and Swim Instructor to join our team at Branksome Hall. As a Lifeguard and Swim Instructor, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety of all students and swimmers using our swimming pools, providing instructional swimming lessons to various age groups, and maintaining a clean and safe pool environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the safety of all students and swimmers using the swimming pools.
  • Provide instructional swimming lessons to various age groups following established curriculum.
  • Plan, organize, and implement lesson plans and evaluations.
  • Maintain direct contact with swimmers and communicate with them in an effective manner while following and enforcing all safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform the critical task of being a first responder in case of an emergency and providing First Aid as needed throughout the pool area.
  • Monitor designated pool areas and maintain the cleanliness of the pool deck area, change rooms, and shower areas.
  • Report on required maintenance and perform related work as required.
  • Conduct facility inspections and complete opening and closing checklists.
  • Perform daily scheduled chemical tests and advise supervisor of any concerns found.

Requirements:

  • Hold current National Lifeguard, Standard First Aid & CPR 'C', and Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor certifications.
  • Possess sound knowledge of the rules and regulations governing safety in an indoor pool facility.
  • Knowledge and practice of Lifesaving, Lifeguarding, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, and First Aid.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle a variety of service situations in a busy aquatic facility.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and act decisively in an emergency situation.
  • Ability to work flexible hours is an asset.
  • Previous experience as a Lifeguard and/or experience instructing the Lifesaving Society's Swim for Life program or other Swim Program is an asset.

Working Conditions:

  • Required to move, lift, carry, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 40 pounds without assistance.
  • Stand, sit, or walk for an extended period of time or for an entire shift.
  • Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, and pulling.
  • Move over sloping, uneven, or slippery surfaces.

Compensation:

$/hour, dependent on experience.
