Job Summary

The First Nations Health Authority is seeking a skilled and dedicated Nurse in Charge to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide leadership and guidance on a comprehensive range of core nursing functions and services within a First Nations community.

About the Role

As the Nurse in Charge, you will be responsible for:

  • Providing professional guidance and assistance to community leaders and other community health care team members in acquiring knowledge and skill.
  • Working independently and as a member of an interdisciplinary team to promote health, prevent disease and injury, protect population health, and provide curative, urgent and emergent care, rehabilitation, and supportive or palliative care.
  • Developing and implementing nursing plans and strategies to improve health outcomes and meet the needs of the community.
  • Collaborating with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive and coordinated care to individuals and families.
  • Providing education and training to community members on health and wellness topics.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A bachelor's degree in nursing.
  • Current registration with British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
  • Current CPR course for Health Care Providers (HCP).
  • Must be Remote certified (RNC) with BCCNM.
  • Successful completion of approved training in public health nursing or approved training in obstetrics, mental health, or some other specialty.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's license and own a vehicle.
  • An understanding of First Nations cultural principles and protocols.
  • Knowledge of nursing processes.

Preferred Qualifications

You may have experience in:

  • Primary care, disease and injury prevention, health protection, curative, urgent and emergent care, medical / surgical, rehabilitation and supportive or palliative care.
