POSITION SUMMARY

The Accreditation Project Leader will offer strategic guidance and oversight for accreditation and program quality assurance within the Faculty of Science. This role encompasses managing accreditation workflows and providing comprehensive oversight for periodic program evaluations. The incumbent will collaborate closely with faculty, staff, and institutional quality assurance teams to establish project plans for each accreditation process, ensuring consistent monitoring and reporting of project milestones.

The Faculty is tasked with evaluating TRU programs in the coming years as part of a newly established cyclical program review framework, which complements the accreditation process. The Project Leader will be responsible for the organization and management of these evaluations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Direct the accreditation process from initial eligibility through to candidacy, full accreditation, and subsequent five-year reviews.
  • Author or critically assess significant accreditation documentation, maintaining communication with relevant accreditation organizations and internal faculty committees.
  • Provide leadership in tracking the Faculty's strategic objectives, including developing measurable outcomes and indicators, while collaborating with administration and faculty to establish a consistent reporting framework.
  • Oversee all regular internal and external surveys and assessments related to accreditation, including evaluations of mission fulfillment, program effectiveness, financial health, and compensation reporting.
  • Act as the primary liaison for the school with institutional accreditation agencies and TRU's internal departments, including Institutional Planning & Effectiveness and Academic Quality Assurance.
  • Offer strategic counsel to the Dean and senior leadership on all accreditation-related matters, including compliance with standards and reporting requirements.
  • Manage and lead additional special projects as assigned by the Dean of Science.

QUALIFICATIONS

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • A Master's degree in a relevant field from an accredited institution, along with project management certification or credentials.
  • Proven experience in academic program accreditation, with a strong preference for experience in Engineering accreditation.
  • Demonstrated expertise in designing and implementing quality assurance frameworks.
  • A minimum of two years of full-time experience in a related domain.
  • Proficient in utilizing spreadsheets, templates, and web-based information systems.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to function as a solution-oriented member of the Science team.
  • Willingness to travel as necessary.
  • Capacity to interact courteously and tactfully with students, staff, and the general public.
