Job Summary

Island Health is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Healthcare Specialist to lead the development of clinical standards and order sets for Trauma Services. The successful candidate will work closely with the IHealth Initiative and CMIO to drive clinical transformation and improve patient safety.

Key Responsibilities
  • Standardization and Development
    • Collaborate with island-wide specialty groups to promote standardized documentation requirements.
    • Develop and adopt condition-specific documentation or specialty-specific requirements.
  • Order Set Harmonization
    • Lead the island-wide representative ordering provider group to harmonize order sets for use on paper and in Computerized Provider Order Entry (CPOE) systems.
    • Ensure order sets adhere to Island Health's standards and promote clinical best practices.
  • Quality and Reporting
    • Ensure linkage to the Quality Council and Quality Council co-chairs through regular reporting and escalation.
    • Liaise with informatics, pharmacy, nursing, and allied health team members to ensure successful development and adoption of clinical order sets.
  • Change Management and Education
    • Support overall IHealth change management by actively engaging with specialty colleagues to support change.
    • Participate in change activities such as workflow validation, simulation exercises, and advising on education platforms and curriculum.
  • Legislative and Accreditation Requirements
    • Ensure clinical and professional legislative, accreditation, or practice requirements are met.
  • Evaluation and Testing
    • Participate in testing events to ensure the design of the Electronic Health Record (EHR) meets clinical workflow requirements and best practice requirements.
    • Contribute to the evaluation of the EHR and related systems through participating in lessons learned, provider experience feedback, benefits evaluation, and metrics.
