About the Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled Geriatrician to join our team at Nova Scotia Health and IWK Health. As a Geriatrician, you will play a key role in providing high-quality care to our elderly patients.

The successful candidate will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals to provide consultation and leadership in the care of frail elderly patients. This will include working on our inpatient Geriatric Assessment and Rehab Unit, inpatient service, and outpatient clinic.

**Responsibilities:**

  • Provide consultation and leadership in the care of frail elderly patients
  • Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals
  • Support community hospitals in the region and develop services within the zone
  • Participate in our stroke program for acute stroke care and stroke rehab
  • Participate in on-call coverage with colleagues from the Department of Internal Medicine
  • Be part of Nova Scotia Health's Division of Geriatric Medicine and adjunct appointment and research opportunities with Dalhousie University's Division of Geriatric Medicine

**Qualifications:**

  • At least 1 year of Geriatric Medicine training as part of Internal Medicine training OR Care of Elderly (COE) Certification in addition to Family Medicine CCFP
  • Membership with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC)
  • Eligibility for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS)
  • Eligibility for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC)
  • Membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)
