Job Summary

The Custodian is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of school buildings and equipment, ensuring compliance with Board, local, and provincial government operational and health and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure the cleanliness and organization of school buildings and equipment
  • Comply with Board, local, and provincial government operational and health and safety standards
  • Perform custodial duties, including cleaning, disinfecting, and maintaining school facilities
  • Operate and maintain cleaning equipment and machinery
  • Develop and implement cleaning schedules and procedures
  • Collaborate with school staff to ensure a safe and healthy learning environment
  • Participate in professional development to enhance custodial skills and knowledge
Requirements
  • Secondary School Diploma or equivalent
  • Compliance with H & S guidelines
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations for Industrial Establishments
  • Updated WHMIS training
  • Good interpersonal skills in dealing with adolescents and the general public
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to prioritize the completion of custodial activities within assigned area in the school
  • Good standing based on a history of both satisfactory job performance and attendance
