We are seeking a highly skilled Dental Hygienist to join our team at Nova Scotia Health Authority. As a Public Health Dental Hygienist, you will work collaboratively with partners across school, community, government, and health to improve oral health outcomes for children.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing oral health programs and policies, working closely with the Healthy Communities Team to address local population health needs and reduce health inequities. You will use a health equity approach and work directly with key partners to provide tangible oral health support to develop and implement oral health focused programs and policies.
You will also be responsible for seeking and advocating for policy and system change, with emphasis on optimizing oral health through community engagement, coalition building, volunteer development, and partnership development. You will continually assess community oral health through both formal and informal means and recommend strategies and interventions to address.
About YouWe are looking for a candidate with a Diploma in Dental Hygiene and a Bachelor's degree, preferably in Dental Hygiene. You must be licensed and a member in good standing with a provincial regulatory body and hold an RDH or DH designation. You should have experience in planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of oral health-related programs, policies, services, and initiatives.
You should also have demonstrated proficiencies in the Core competencies for Public Health & LEADS and demonstrated success in building strategic partnerships, networks, coalitions, and collaborative working relationships with a variety of internal and external partners to support healthy communities work.

HoursThis is a permanent part-time position with 83% FTE and 70 hours bi-weekly. The successful candidate will work 70 hours bi-weekly for an approximate ten-month period, aligning with the school calendar year.
Compensation and IncentivesThe hourly rate for this position is $35.28. Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package, which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
