About the Opportunity

The Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a highly skilled Public Health Dental Hygienist to join our Healthy Communities Team. As a key member of our team, you will work collaboratively with partners across school, community, government, and health to improve oral health outcomes for children.

Reporting to the Manager, Healthy Communities, you will be responsible for developing and implementing oral health-focused programs and policies, as well as working with key partners to provide tangible oral health support. You will use a health equity approach and work directly with school communities, childcare facilities, and municipalities to achieve positive oral health outcomes.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and implementing oral health programs and policies
  • Working with key partners to provide oral health support
  • Using a health equity approach to address oral health inequities
  • Conducting assessments and analysis to inform oral health initiatives
  • Building strategic partnerships and networks to support healthy communities work

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Dental Hygienist who is passionate about improving oral health outcomes for children. If you have a strong background in public health and a commitment to health equity, we encourage you to apply.

About You

We are looking for a candidate with the following qualifications:

  • Diploma in Dental Hygiene and Bachelor's degree; Bachelor's in Dental Hygiene preferred
  • Must be licensed and a member in good standing with a provincial regulatory body
  • Experience in planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of oral health-related programs, policies, services, and initiatives
  • Demonstrated proficiencies in the Core competencies for Public Health & LEADS
  • Demonstrated success in building strategic partnerships, networks, coalitions, and collaborative working relationships
Hours

This is a permanent part-time position with a 70-hour bi-weekly schedule, aligning with the school calendar year. The salary is pro-rated to 0.83 FTE, paid over a twelve-month period.
