Your mission:
Under the supervision of the Purchasing and Materials Superintendent, the Buyer will engage in negotiations and manage contracts for services and materials, as well as maintenance agreements and projects, ensuring compliance with company policies and relevant legislation. The Buyer will also evaluate vendor and contractor proposals, stay informed about new products and technologies, and implement strategies to optimize spending.
- Transform requisitions into purchase orders and expedite orders as necessary.
- Gather requirements from internal stakeholders to ensure their needs are fulfilled.
- Lead the collection and analysis of regional purchasing data, usage trends, and key suppliers.
- Establish and nurture relationships with external partners, facilitating discussions between service providers and internal teams.
- Prepare, distribute, collect, and analyze Requests for Proposal (RFP), Requests for Quote (RFQ), and Requests for Information (RFI).
- Review terms and conditions for project personnel and contracts executed daily.
- Oversee contract negotiations and capital expenditures.
- Assist teams in conducting negotiations, including financial and bid analysis.
- Manage the contractor pre-qualification process.
- Select suppliers using evaluation tools.
- Initiate and prepare Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDA) between the mill and suppliers.
- Assess the financial performance of vendors.
- Onboard new suppliers, establish net terms, and serve as a liaison between contractors and the mill.
- Estimate cost-saving opportunities and develop sourcing strategies.
- Oversee investment recovery processes, including the disposal of surplus materials.
- Engage in continuous improvement and total cost of ownership projects in collaboration with operations, maintenance, engineering, and suppliers.
Your profile:

- A minimum of 5 years of purchasing experience in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
- Completion of or enrollment in a recognized purchasing designation, preferably SCMP.
- In-depth understanding of contract negotiation and business management practices.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, comfortable interacting with employees at all organizational levels.
- Self-driven, with a strong sense of urgency and the ability to meet deadlines.
- A strong commitment to customer service excellence.
- Proficiency in MS Outlook, MS Excel, MS Word, and ERP software.
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
- A desire for personal and professional growth and success.
