Job Title: RPN-TFT-Paediatric Inpatient Unit

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) to join our Paediatric Inpatient Unit team at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre.

About the Role:

As a RPN on our Paediatric Inpatient Unit, you will be responsible for providing high-quality nursing care to a diverse patient population, including children with complex medical and surgical needs. You will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to deliver patient-centered care, utilizing the Nursing Process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct patient care, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care plans
  • Collaborate with Registered Nurses and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care delivery
  • Identify and respond to abnormal or unexpected patient responses, taking appropriate action to ensure patient safety
  • Manage multiple nursing interventions simultaneously, prioritizing tasks to meet patient needs
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams to ensure informed decision-making and care coordination
Requirements:
  • Current unrestricted registration as a Registered Practical Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Current certification in Basic Life Support (BCLS)
  • Recent experience in Paediatric Nursing, with a focus on caring for complex patient populations
  • Ability to use the Nursing Process to deliver individualized care plans
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certification or recent continuing education in Paediatric Nursing, Lactation Support/Education, or Paediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
  • Experience working with patients who require central venous line management
