Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Practical Nurse to join our Paediatric Inpatient Unit team at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre. As a key member of our multidisciplinary healthcare team, you will provide high-quality nursing care to patients with predictable outcomes, while collaborating with colleagues to ensure seamless care delivery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide individualized care planning and delivery to patients with complex needs, including those who are technology-dependent or have mental health and/or behavioural diagnoses.
  • Collaborate with Registered Nurses to ensure stable patient outcomes and provide support as needed.
  • Identify and respond to abnormal patient responses, taking appropriate action to ensure patient safety.
  • Manage multiple nursing interventions simultaneously, prioritizing patient needs and ensuring timely care delivery.
  • Develop and maintain strong interprofessional relationships with colleagues, fostering a culture of open communication and collaboration.
Requirements
  • Current unrestricted registration as a Registered Practical Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario, or the ability to become licensed with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS).
  • Recent experience in Paediatric Nursing, with a focus on caring for complex patient populations, including those who are technology-dependent or have mental health and/or behavioural diagnoses.
  • Ability to use the Nursing Process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation) to inform individualized care planning and delivery.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certification or recent continuing education in Paediatric Nursing, Lactation Support/Education, Paediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), or Emergency Nurses Paediatric Course (ENPC).
