Required Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum Grade 12 or equivalent;
  • Dietary Aide Certificate or willingness to take the course;
  • Valid Food Handling certificate;
  • Experience in food service, preferably in a healthcare setting;
  • Experience with cleaning chemicals an asset;
  • Experience with the operation and cleaning of food preparation equipment and scales;
  • Experience with the operation of a cash register for cafeteria functions.

Abilities and Skills:

  • Ability to work in a collaborative interdisciplinary team environment;
  • Effective communication skills with colleagues;
  • Ability to prioritize and manage workload;
  • Mental and physical ability to meet job demands (e.g., strength to lift heavy loads/items);

  • Current Criminal Record Check for the Vulnerable Sector and Adult Abuse Registry check deemed satisfactory by the Employer.

Knowledge:

  • Food sanitation and safety principles;
  • Quantity food preparation techniques;
  • Mathematics and metric system for recipe calculations and portioning;
  • Workplace Health and Safety and safe work practices;
  • W.H.M.I.S. program.
