Job Summary: Golden Links Lodge Personal Care Home is seeking a Dietary Aide to join our team. As a Dietary Aide, you will assist in the preparation and serving of meals to our residents, ensuring their nutritional needs are met.

Responsibilities:

  1. Portion out food and beverages on meal trays according to menu; loads, delivers, and unloads meal service carts.

  2. Portions out and serves food and beverages within a dining room and cafeteria operation.

  3. Ensures mealtime deadlines are met.

  4. Assist cooks as required.

  5. Assists in preparation and execution of special event meals and catering functions.

  6. Operates dispensing machines; puts away and brings out supplies as required.

  7. Counts, weighs, and/or measures ingredients for assigned food preparation.

  8. Makes beverages and food items such as tea, coffee, and toast; assembles items such as sandwiches and salads.

  9. Washes, peels, and stores vegetables and fruit.

  10. Assists in maintaining cost control through portion control, careful storage, and usage of leftovers, etc.

  11. Cleans, washes, and sets tables neatly. Refills supplies as required.

  12. Strips, racks, and washes items such as dishes, bins, and utensils; operates dishwashing machines; stacks/stores dishes, utensils.

  13. Receives deliveries, checking invoice against items received. Advises supervisor of any damaged, short, or incorrect items.

  14. Responsible that all foods, including deliveries, are stored appropriately as soon as possible.

  15. Works to minimize spoilage and waste.

  16. Unpacks supplies when delivered, organizes storeroom/refrigerators using the "first in – first out" stock rotation procedure.

Requirements:

  1. Successful completion of Grade 10 education is required.

  2. Food Handlers training certificate Level 1 or equivalent required.

  3. Food service experience is preferred.

  4. Ability to speak, read, write, and comprehend fluent English is required.

  5. Able to carry out duties in a professional manner, working under minimum or no supervision, and in compliance with confidentiality of GLL and its Residents.

  6. Effective interpersonal and communication skills.

  7. Good organizational skills.

  8. Good physical and mental health to meet the demands of the position (i.e., prolonged standing, pushing, pulling, lifting, and bending, etc.).

  9. Able to operate related equipment and maintain a clean work area.

  10. Clean, neat appearance, in accordance with GLL dress code.

  11. Able to accept constructive criticism and to adapt in stressful situations.

  12. Interested in the elderly and in working to uphold the concepts of teamwork in caring for the needs of the Residents.

  13. Able to work to improve food service for facility Residents and staff.

  14. All hires require a Criminal Record and Adult Abuse Registry check.

  15. Understands and respects Residents' rights and privacy.

  16. Presents a courteous, cooperative, and professional manner to both Residents and staff while performing duties.

  17. Promotes a homelike atmosphere within Golden Links Lodge.

Working Conditions: This position requires working in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision. The Dietary Aide will be required to lift, push, and pull items as needed. The successful candidate must be able to work in a team environment and maintain confidentiality.
