Job Summary

We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Buildings and Places team. This position will be based in either our Montreal or Ottawa offices, with opportunities for hybrid work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to team members
  • Develop and implement study and design procedures to ensure high-quality, cost-effective work
  • Participate in interdisciplinary reviews of project deliverables
  • Develop construction cost estimates and technical effort estimates for projects
  • Perform quality control reviews of design calculations and drawings
  • Prepare technical specification sections
  • Provide input to the development of engineering budgets and schedules
  • Develop various types of reports, including schematic design, design development, building assessment, and design build/assist scope of work documents
  • Prepare electrical drawings and specifications
  • Implement design concepts through the preparation and production of drawings to detail lighting, power, fire alarm, and specialty low-voltage systems
  • Provide technical and administrative support throughout all phases of the project
  • Conduct research to gather industry, field, and project-specific data
  • Ensure design conforms to all applicable codes and standards
  • Work with prime consultants, engineering consultants, and contractors to respond to technical queries
  • Perform construction administration responsibilities, including attending site meetings, reviewing shop drawings, and preparing SI and CCN documents

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 6+ years of experience in the engineering consulting industry, preferably in a building engineering group
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer in Ontario and/or Quebec

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with OESC, OBC, IEEE, NFPA, and other industry standards and codes
  • Experience leading electrical designers and drafters
  • Experience designing electrical power and lighting systems
  • Knowledge of power analysis tools, such as SKM and/or ETAP
  • Proficiency in using computers for engineering calculations, spreadsheets, and report writing
  • Familiarity with providing guidance and support for others within a department
  • Analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills and abilities
  • Ability to communicate, coordinate, and work well with others both internally and externally
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and commitment to technical excellence and quality
  • Self-motivated and proactive
  • Analytical, resourceful, and detail-oriented
  • A good team player and decision maker
  • Valid driver's license
  • Experience with electrical load calculations, lighting design, and analysis
  • Additional certifications, such as LEED, LC, CEM, RCDD, etc.
