This role can be performed from any of our Ontario offices, with a primary focus on the GTA, thus preference will be given to candidates based in either the Markham or Mississauga locations.

Key Responsibilities

The responsibilities of this role encompass, but are not limited to:

  • Formulating, articulating, and overseeing the implementation of strategies to enhance AECOM's standing in the Water Resources sector across Ontario, particularly in expanding the team and service capabilities in the GTA.
  • Collaborating directly with clients to improve project execution and results, while fostering effective client relationship management.
  • Success metrics will include:
    • Regular meetings with water resources group leaders across the province to balance workloads and align priorities.
    • Retention and growth of team members.
    • Identifying and recruiting key personnel to leverage growth and facilitate succession planning.
    • Leading or coordinating the team's involvement in significant conferences and sponsorship opportunities relevant to the market sector.
    • Collaborating with market sector leaders to ensure the accuracy of the Salesforce pipeline data concerning opportunities in the respective market sector.
    • Representing the local market sector within the internal AECOM network, including the Water Region Business Line Leader, Director of Operations, and Americas Water Business Line Market Sector Leaders.
    • Identifying top clients and key pursuits.
    • Acting as capture manager for major pursuits.
    • Building and enhancing key client relationships, including regular meetings with important clients within the market sector.
    • Researching, analyzing, and reporting on client trends to inform strategic direction.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Water Resources, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Over 10 years of experience in water resources projects.
  • Registered as a P.Eng. and eligible to practice in Ontario.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of water resources policies and practices.
  • Proven ability to manage and coordinate teams to achieve the water resources growth strategy and deliver client projects.
  • Strong delegation skills to mentor less experienced staff.
  • Experience in design and construction related to transportation/transit infrastructure, stormwater, and/or erosion and slope stability projects is advantageous.
  • Experience in preparing cost estimates, tender packages, and contract administration.
  • Familiarity with various water resources modeling software (e.g., HEC-RAS, SWMM, SWMHYMO, VISUAL OTTHYMO, InfoWorks, etc.).
  • Exceptional organizational and communication skills.
  • A valid driver's license is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in Fluvial Geomorphology/Natural Channel design is a strong asset.
  • Experience with Dams (DSRs, decommissioning, dam break modeling, CDA membership).
  • Familiarity with 2D hydraulic modeling is beneficial.
  • PMP Designation.
  • Experience in proposal preparation, including defining work scope, creating time task breakdowns, and drafting technical approach sections.
  • Interest and capability in taking on Project Management responsibilities (schedule and budget oversight, client interaction, proposal writing, etc.).
  • Advanced computer skills, particularly in GIS.
