Position Summary:

Parsons is seeking a highly skilled Principal Water Resources Engineer to oversee project management and provide technical guidance for the planning, analysis, design, approval, and execution of drainage and stormwater management initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Take the lead on the drainage aspects of infrastructure projects, encompassing all stages of design and tendering for drainage and stormwater management features.
  2. Conduct comprehensive studies, computer modeling, and design tasks related to stormwater management to support development projects, subwatershed plans, floodplain mapping, hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, and erosion control studies.
  3. Drive proposal development and business growth initiatives.
  4. Oversee multiple project timelines, budgets, and potential scope modifications.
  5. Perform field assessments, analyses, and evaluations as necessary.
  6. Ensure quality control and conduct independent reviews of project deliverables.
  7. Support construction activities in the capacity of project manager, project engineer, or contract administrator.
  8. Mentor junior staff, providing technical direction and training recommendations.

Required Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Water Resources Engineering with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience. Professional Engineer registration or eligibility for registration is essential.
  2. In-depth knowledge of the engineering consulting landscape in the GTA/Ontario region.
  3. Established relationships and familiarity with the regulatory framework and approval processes are advantageous.
  4. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to build relationships.
  5. Experience in responding to Requests for Proposals, Expressions of Interest, and Statements of Qualifications.
  6. Demonstrated technical expertise in related projects.
  7. Proficient in current technologies and engineering software (e.g., EPA/PC-SWMM, HEC-RAS, InfoWorks, SWMHYMO, Visual OTTHYMO, Civil3D/MicroStation) for engineering tasks.
  8. Valid driver's license in Ontario.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Over 15 years of relevant experience in water resources engineering.
  2. Experience with transit and highway projects.
  3. Familiarity with design-build project methodologies.
  4. Knowledge of fluvial geomorphology and natural channel design.
  5. Experience with 2D hydraulic modeling techniques.
  6. Proven ability to manage teams and mentor junior staff.
