Municipal Water Resources Engineer

AECOM is seeking a Municipal Engineer to join our Water group. This position is open to candidates from various locations within the Greater Toronto Area.
The ideal candidate will possess a robust understanding and extensive experience in civil engineering, civil technology, and construction management principles, particularly in the context of municipal infrastructure design and construction. The successful applicant will thrive in a collaborative team environment and demonstrate effective communication skills with project team members and clients. A strong sense of initiative, motivation, and enthusiasm for project completion is essential. The role will focus on delivering infrastructure solutions primarily within the municipal water, wastewater, and stormwater sectors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate a working knowledge of water, wastewater, and drainage conveyance systems in a municipal context.
- Engage in the design of civil systems related to municipal water and/or wastewater and drainage facilities.
- Conduct constructability reviews and construction inspections.
- Oversee construction contract administration.
- Prepare documentation for design projects and reports.
- Develop construction cost estimates.
- Draft project specifications and contract documents.
- Manage client communications and project management tasks, including proposal preparation, contract negotiation, and coordination with regulatory bodies.
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent) with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in civil engineering, design, construction inspection, or contract administration.
- Experience with municipal water, wastewater, and/or stormwater conveyance and pumping infrastructure projects.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
- Registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) in Ontario.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills with colleagues, contractors, and clients.
- Comfortable in a multi-disciplinary work environment.
- Experience in project management is advantageous.
- Familiarity with proposal writing and job scoping is beneficial.
- Knowledge of systems associated with lift stations, pump stations, and other mechanical equipment relevant to water and wastewater utilities is a plus.
- Experience with trenchless technologies is an asset.
