Youth Justice and Mental Health Support SpecialistAs a vital member of our Youth Justice Team, the Youth Justice and Mental Health Support Specialist plays a crucial role in guiding young people through challenging circumstances. This position offers a unique opportunity to make a tangible difference in the lives of youth who are navigating the complexities of the justice system while facing mental health needs.
Responsibilities- Provide dedicated support to youth aged 12 to 17 who are involved with the criminal justice system and experiencing mental health challenges, illnesses, or disorders.
- Establish strong connections between youth in conflict with the law, the Youth Justice Court, and appropriate community mental health and justice resources.
- Deliver a range of cognitive, life-skills, and recreational programs designed to empower young people who are involved in the justice system and reduce recidivism.
- Collaborate in the development, planning, and implementation of Restorative Justice initiatives and services within NEOFACS.
- A Bachelor's degree in Criminology, Law and Justice, or Social Work is preferred. A Community College diploma in Social Service Worker or Child and Youth Worker may also be considered.
- Comprehensive knowledge and experience in interpreting and applying the legislative acts, regulations, and policies of the Ministry of Children and Youth Services and the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills when addressing the needs of youth and families.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- A willingness to work flexible hours as required.
- Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset.
- A valid driver's license and access to a personal vehicle are essential.
