North Eastern Ontario Family and Children's Services (NEOFACS) is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Restorative Justice Specialist to join our Youth Justice Team. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in supporting youth in conflict with the law and providing them with the necessary tools and resources to make positive changes in their lives.
Job Summary:The Restorative Justice Specialist will provide support to youth aged 12 to 17 who are in contact with the criminal justice system and presenting with mental health needs, illness, or disorder. This will involve establishing effective linkages between the youth, the Youth Justice Court, and appropriate community mental health and justice resources.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide cognitive, life-skills, and recreational programs to young persons who are in conflict with the law to prevent recidivism.
- Facilitate the development, planning, and implementation of Restorative Justice initiatives and services within the Agency.
- Establish and maintain effective relationships with community partners and stakeholders to ensure seamless service delivery.
- Conduct assessments and develop individualized plans to support youth in achieving their goals and making positive changes in their lives.
- Bachelor's degree in Criminology, Law and Justice, or Social Work is preferred.
- Thorough knowledge and experience in interpreting and applying the legislative acts, regulations, and policies of the Ministry of Children and Youth Services and Youth Criminal Justice Act.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills as they relate to youth and families.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours and travel as required.
- Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset.
