Restorative Justice Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Restorative Justice Specialist to join our team at North Eastern Ontario Family and Children's Services (NEOFACS). As a key member of our Youth Justice Team, you will play a vital role in supporting youth in conflict with the law and providing them with the necessary tools to make positive changes in their lives.
Job Summary:The Restorative Justice Specialist will provide support to youth aged 12 to 17 who are in contact with the criminal justice system and presenting with mental health needs, illness, or disorder. This will involve establishing effective linkages between the youth, the Youth Justice Court, and appropriate community mental health and justice resources.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide cognitive, life-skills, and recreational programs to young persons who are in conflict with the law to prevent recidivism;
- Facilitate the development, planning, and implementation of Restorative Justice initiatives and services within the Agency;
- Establish and maintain effective relationships with community partners and stakeholders;
- Conduct assessments and develop individualized plans to support youth in achieving their goals;
- Provide training and support to staff and community partners on Restorative Justice principles and practices.
- Bachelor's degree in Criminology, Law and Justice, or Social Work;
- Thorough knowledge and experience in interpreting and applying legislative acts, regulations, and policies related to youth justice;
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
- Ability to work flexible hours and travel as required;
- Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset;
- Valid driver's license and use of own vehicle.
